Digital cameras have revolutionized photography. Not only do they provide the convenience of digital records but also offer a wide variety of quality pictures and storage.
The first factor to be considered while purchasing a digital camera is the mega pixels. Higher the mega pixels, better is the resolution and quality of the image. Nowadays, cameras of over 7 mega pixels are available. For a non-professional user 3.2 or 4 mega pixel is god enough as it does not occupy too much of memory and the print out on a 4” x 6” on a higher mega pixel would not tantamount to a great difference in the quality. Higher the mega pixel higher is the amount of memory required to store the image.
Zoom is another important criterion. There are 2 types of zoom: – Optical and Digital. Optical zoom is the actual displacement of the lens. In digital zoom, however, the lens does not actually move and this zoom leads to deterioration in the picture.
The other factors are the design of the camera. Sleek cameras with wide screens are always preferred but more expensive. The lens is an obvious factor which has to be considered along with the brand of the camera so used.
There is a huge variety of digital cameras available and the budget of the user becomes the deciding factor to make the right selection
