Apple’s announcements of their updates to come at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) of this year so far have been surprisingly all software, which has added further fuel to the fire of those claiming that Apple will hold off on the iPhone 5 until the fall. They are reportedly revealing the futures of both their iOS and Mac operating systems.

Another source has also stated that Apple has not even ordered their iPhone 5 parts yet. If this is true, they will not have ample time to assemble the devices for an early summer release.

Apple just recently added their iPhone to Verizon’s smartphone offerings, giving them 100 million new potential customers, so, by delaying until the fall, they would be avoiding a situation of where they would lose the potential revenue from the move. This would be assuming that all Verizon iPhone 4 adopters would switch over to the phone by them.

Regardless, waiting until the fall as well as the next fiscal year will allow for Apple to squeeze a lot more revenue out of the fourth generation of iPhones before bringing out the next version. This delay would also allow the focus at the WWDC to be on MAC OS X Lion as well as whatever Apple has up their sleeve for the iOS.

They have added Facebook chat, a feature that both the Android and Apple apps already have had the pleasure of containing. The difference with the Facebook chat for Blackberry is that users will be notified in their messages list, and can also start a Facebook chat with anyone from their contacts who is their friend on Facebook.

An overlaid grid now gives users their Facebook options including viewing the feed, messages, photos, and even checking into places. This is a major upgrade from the top bar that showed the icons before. The top bar is now reserved for a summary of your recent Facebook activities. This sits directly below the standard Blackberry notification bar that notifies user of system messages as well as things such as BBM messages.

When scrolling the news feed, users of this new Facebook app for Blackberry can comment on items with a single click (or tap if using a touch screen). The UI is still rather blocky though, and does not feel as free flowing as the Facebook website or the apps for the social networking services available on many other mobile devices.

Overall, this update will be adding much needed features to Blackberry’s version of the app, but still leave much to be desired. For instance, contact syncing and integration has been added, but even the features of that seem to be lacking when compared to iOS and Android versions. So all in all, RIM has had a good try at making the Facebook app more fully featured, but they need to do much more in order to compete with the big boys.

According to Eric Pop of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, “The research of the team would end up with making an iPhone, the mobile-like device that will be mightier enough to harvest solar or thermal energy whereby you need not to rely on the battery.” Mr. Pop has the conviction that the battery would operate not only telecommunication equipments in remote places or a lot of military as well as scientific applications, but also the satellites set free in the space. Samsung is coming up with its latest phone ‘Galaxy Beam’, touted to be the world’s first Android projector phone. It is scheduled to release in July in Singapore. The rest of Asia and Europe should see its launch shortly after that. This comes in as another first from Samsung after the launch of its Wave S8500 which was the first smartphone to be powered by Bada operating system.

The Galaxy Beam, earlier called Halo, comes with a 3.7 inch screen super AMOLED display. It has a built-in DLP pico projector and runs with Android 2.1. The connectivity features of the phone include Bluetooth v3.0, USB v2.0, Wi-Fi. It has also got TV out option.

Other regular features like camera, radio and video are present. There is a front facing VGA camera and 8MP camera that comes with auto focus with flash. It plays FM radio and supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, DivX and Xvid video formats.

Weighing at 155 grams, the device uses 1800 mAh battery that gives 7 hours of talk time and 530 hours in standby.

As far as the evolution of cell phones go, the projector phones are most likely to set in a new trend in the mobile world. Redmond, Washington — It took Microsoft a long time to produce an IM app for the iPhone. Surprising as it may seem, The Redmond company’s latest milestone is that it has wrapped up “Windows Live Messenger” for the iPhone and iPod Touch and is serving the application to customers from iTunes App Store on Monday.

Windows Live Messenger for the iPhone and iPod touch was released Monday, with little publicity from Microsoft. As a matter of fact, the software giant has been extremely soundless about the launch. The app is designed to play nice with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, requiring iOS 3.0 or later.

Although the primary layout of the app is to stay on top of your Windows Live network and chat with your buddies, the company has added a few additional features sure to please any Live user. Specifications of Samsung’s next generation Android handset – Galaxy S Pro, has been revealed by Android Central folks who claimed to have received information from reliable tipster.
The Samsung Galaxy S Pro phone, which was seen in quite a few leaked photos, had never been seen in such detail prior to this leak. The phone is apparently still in its testing phase and is visually quite similar to the existing Galaxy S. The phone is thought to have the same 4-inch Super AMOLED screen as the one on the Galaxy S. It is smaller than the 4.3 inch screen of the Evo 4G but larger than that of Nexus One.  It is thought to sport the same resolution as the Galaxy S – 480×800. The phone also has a slideout QWERTY keypad and apparently is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 design processor.

The Apple’s iOS 4 arrives Monday for owners of the iPhone 3GS and 3rd generation iPod touch, delivering a bevy of new features worth the upgrade.
