Samsung is coming up with its latest phone ‘Galaxy Beam’, touted to be the world’s first Android projector phone. It is scheduled to release in July in Singapore. The rest of Asia and Europe should see its launch shortly after that. This comes in as another first from Samsung after the launch of its Wave S8500 which was the first smartphone to be powered by Bada operating system.

The Galaxy Beam, earlier called Halo, comes with a 3.7 inch screen super AMOLED display. It has a built-in DLP pico projector and runs with Android 2.1. The connectivity features of the phone include Bluetooth v3.0, USB v2.0, Wi-Fi. It has also got TV out option.

Other regular features like camera, radio and video are present. There is a front facing VGA camera and 8MP camera that comes with auto focus with flash. It plays FM radio and supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, DivX and Xvid video formats.

Weighing at 155 grams, the device uses 1800 mAh battery that gives 7 hours of talk time and 530 hours in standby.

As far as the evolution of cell phones go, the projector phones are most likely to set in a new trend in the mobile world. In late 2009, LG had come up with eXpo, a smartphone running on Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, that came with a removable pico projector. And with Samsung running the phone with the Android OS, it will be exciting to see the impact that the Galaxy Beam will create in the markets.

Redmond, Washington — It took Microsoft a long time to produce an IM app for the iPhone. Surprising as it may seem, The Redmond company’s latest milestone is that it has wrapped up “Windows Live Messenger” for the iPhone and iPod Touch and is serving the application to customers from iTunes App Store on Monday.

Windows Live Messenger for the iPhone and iPod touch was released Monday, with little publicity from Microsoft. As a matter of fact, the software giant has been extremely soundless about the launch. The app is designed to play nice with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, requiring iOS 3.0 or later.

Although the primary layout of the app is to stay on top of your Windows Live network and chat with your buddies, the company has added a few additional features sure to please any Live user. Like the PC version of Windows Live Messenger, the latest IM app for iPhone has numbers of features including social networking, email extras etc. The elegant, well-designed app offers four buttons for its four modes: Social updates, buddy list, chats, and photos.

The phone is apparently still in its testing phase and is visually quite similar to the existing Galaxy S. The phone is thought to have the same 4-inch Super AMOLED screen as the one on the Galaxy S. It is smaller than the 4.3 inch screen of the Evo 4G but larger than that of Nexus One. It is thought to sport the same resolution as the Galaxy S – 480×800.
The Apple’s iOS 4 arrives Monday for owners of the iPhone 3GS and 3rd generation iPod touch, delivering a bevy of new features worth the upgrade. If you’re not getting an iPhone 4 (by choice or limited stock availability), iOS 4 should supercharge your old iPhone with new tricks until your next upgrade.

Apple has not specified what time it will be releasing iOS 4, but if last year’s 3.0 release is anything to go by, expect the new operating system to hit the tubes sometime after 1PM Eastern/10AM Pacific. Patience is also a must, as there are millions of devices eligible for the free upgrade, and there will be a lot of pressure of Apple’s servers….

HTC Touch Pro is amongst the popular smart phones in the current market. HTC has gone another step closer towards perfection with an addition of a complete 5-row QWERTY keyboard.

When you’ll purchase your HTC Touch Pro, you are going to get a phone, AC charger, 1GB Micro SD-card along with case, extra stylus, wired stereo headset, USB data cable, belt holster, micro-USB headphone adapter and screen protector. It’s slightly thicker than other HTC models, at 4.17×2.05×7 inches. However, it’s considerably light at 5.3 ounces including the battery. Display is 2.8-inch in side and is a TFT-LCD VGA touch screen from Touch Diamond.

Keyboard of HTC Touch Pro has been laid out perfectly. It has designated number keys, which do not make it have a crowded feel. Enter & Shift keys are twice in width to others, which make easy to locate and at the same time, it has shortcuts for messaging applications.

HTC Touch Pro also offers a 3.2MP camera, which can also record video. Taking picture is simple with its auto-focus and inbuilt flash. However, there is no shortcut key dedicated to camera. It’s an option in the 3D user-interface. Touch Pro has the capability of taking panoramic photos virtually seamless. Its videos are also of high quality when compared to other HTC smart phones.

HTC Touch Pro has been loaded with several pre-installed applications. They include Windows Live Messenger and Opera & IE browser. Apart from that, it also supports AOL, Yahoo and Windows Live Messenger. It is also provided with Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile, JETCET PRINT 5, YouTube, Adobe Reader LE, Live Search, OneNote Mobile and RSS Hub. Unfortunately, its processor doesn’t seem compatible to Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro. Generally, scrolling is choppy with rough animations. TouchFLO 3D didn’t performed according to its potential.

At $299.99, it is a wonderful offering from HTC and you should not miss it!

Dazzling screen (480×320) of Blackberry Bold is enough for receiving praises from the critics. Its incredibly rich appearance and stunning pixel density will make you develop a desire to touch it.

Keyboard

BlackBerry phones live and die on their keyboard. After you will get accustomed to the slight angle shift of the keys in Blackberry Bold, it’s going to be a fantastic experience. Its glossy navigation keys are large and make typing comfortable. You might even find its backlighting impressive.

Body

When it comes to the body, with Blackberry Bold you have your hands on an incredibly modern business device. This smart phone exudes power. The body is large and wide, but still feels perfect in hand. However, its faux-leather backing is puzzling. Although its solid, you might not like its presence on your Bold.

Connections

Blackberry Bold is inclusive of Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS. Its powerful network feature will help you in getting full network in most areas. Although GPS delivers a slow performance than expected, especially in map apps, but it will do. On AT&T, it immediately serves as a decent Navigator App.

Battery

Battery Life of Blackberry gold is impressive. With half charge after taking out from the box, you will find it to work for 8 hours in spite of going through considerable 3G browsing, emailing and usage of other everyday applications use.

Media

Watching videos on your Blackberry Bold is amazing, in spite of its Roxie-powered desktop player not being impressive. Its external speaker is good delivering richer sound than most other.

OS

The 624 MHz Processor of Blackberry Bold allows its OS operates smoothly. The BlackBerry OS is pretty. If you’ve been an old user of its phones, you might have little problem in getting around. Again, with little or no knowledge too, it’s easy to get acquainted with in no time.

For Blackberry fanatics, Blackberry Bold at $299 is a treat not to be missed out on!

Sony Ericsson’s Experia is a mixed bag when it comes to smart phones released in 2008. For each good feature it possesses, you might come across a detracting one too.

From hardware viewpoint, Experia is well built and has an extremely solid feel. However, it is not amongst the slimmest or lightest phone in the market. Its 256 MB RAM and 528 MHz has given the phone adequate horsepower for operating smoothly.

VGA screen (800×400) of Experia is quite beautiful. Anyone can get impressed, especially considering that it is packed in 2.8-inch screen. Appearance of images and videos are sharp, bright and vibrant. However, of all the hardware, you are sure to get impressed with its keyboard. Keys have been well spaced and are quite responsive, which will help you in removing typing errors. It has also been provided with an optical sensor stuck. It allows you to flick your thumb over the surface, which will help you in scrolling up & down and side-side.

In terms of software, USP of Xperia is the custom panel interfaces that vary from media player interface, distinct types of home screens and a Google-oriented screen. When selected, they serve as the default screen on the phone and every other navigation trackback to the panel. Theoretically, it’s a good concept, but may fail to serve the purpose of the modern world. Media Player is the standout in Experia. Sony Ericsson has taken designing cues from PS3 and PSP for creating an appealing and functional interface. Its media player features is clean and streamlined along with large buttons and icons, which work well even in the absence of a stylus.

Call clarity and signal strength of Experia are good. However, its screen could have been better, as you will find it difficult in identifying missed call, dialed call or received call at once. Battery life of the phone is great, as you’ll be able to make calls, surf the web and play video files at moderate level for 2-3 days without charging. Its 3.2MP camera has good sensors giving clear photos and has touch screen taps for auto focusing on specific objects. However, its slow shutter detracts the camera experience.

At $800, Sony Ericsson’s Experia has a lot to offer to you, if you can overlook all its minor drawbacks.
