With mobile phones parents have quick and easy access to their teenage children. They feel comfortable and no longer need to wonder if their teenager is going to be late or is having a problem. Mobile phones allow the teenagers to communicate with their parents or ask for help if they are in any kind of difficulty. This is the main reason behind parents providing their teenage children with a mobile phone.

Providing mobile phones to teenagers also has its disadvantages. Since most of the teenagers enjoy talking on the phone and sending text messages to their friends, parents may end up paying high bills. Prepaid mobile phones are a good option to keep this expense in control. There is also high risk of children loosing their mobile phones. Therefore while providing their teenagers with a mobile phone parents should be firm and confer the responsibility towards the phone to their children and explain their teenage children from time to time the actual reason for which the mobile phone has been provided to them and so that they do not to misuse it.
There should be certain guidelines for mobile phone use by teenagers:
• No mobile phone use should be allowed during class hours.
• The phone should be in vibration mode and should be used only in case of emergency during school hours.
• Headset should be provided to the teenager.
• Limit the monthly limits to minimum.
